  • The Vibe K5 Note's India variant comes with 4GB of RAM
  • The smartphone runs on an octa-core Helio P10 SoC
Lenovo India on Monday launched the Vibe K5 Note in the country, priced at Rs. 11,999 for the 3GB of RAM variant, and Rs. 13,499 for the 4GB of RAM variant. It will be available from Flipkart in an open sale starting 11:59pm IST on Wednesday, in Black, Silver, and Gold colour variants.
As teased last week, the variants launched in India sport more memory than the China variant, which bore only 2GB of RAM. It also gets 32GB of inbuilt storage, compared to 16GB on the China variant. It gets the Vibe moniker in India as well, which should help disambiguate between the Lenovo Vibe K5 Note and the Lenovo K5 Note. To recall, the K5 Note packs a lot of improvements over the Lenovo Vibe K4 Note, such as an all-metal body.
The highlight feature of the Vibe K5 Note handset is its fingerprint scanner, placed below the camera module on the rear panel. Like the Vibe K4 Note, the handset also packs Dolby Atmos powered speakers, with the technology also extending to the 3.5mm headphone jack.
The dual-SIM (Nano-SIM) Lenovo Vibe K5 Note runs on Android 6.0 Marshmallow in India, the company's Pure UI skin on top - said to be closer to stock Android. This is another difference between the India variant and the China variant, which runs Android 5.1 Lollipop with the Vibe UI skin on top. The Lenovo Vibe K5 Note features a 5.5-inch full-HD (1080x1920 pixels) IPS display, and comes with TheaterMax technology for conversion of regular content into immersive VR content.
Much like the Vibe K4 Note, the K5 Note is also powered by a MediaTek processor. The Vibe K5 Note packs a 64-bit octa-core MediaTek Helio P10 (MT6755) processor clocked at 1.8GHz coupled with 4GB of RAM and Mali-T860 GPU. It supports expandable storage via microSD card (up to 128GB).
The Lenovo Vibe K5 Note sports a 13-megapixel rear camera with PDAF autofocus, an f/2.2 aperture and dual-tone LED flash apart from an 8-megapixel front-facing camera. The Android 5.1 Lollipop-based handset runs the company's proprietary Vibe UI on top. It supports dual Nano-SIM cards. The Vibe K5 Note smartphone packs digital compass, accelerometer, proximity, and ambient light sensors. It weighs in at 152 grams, measures 152x75.7x8.49mm, and sports a 3500mAh battery.
At the launch event in New Delhi, Flipkart - the company's online retail partner for the smartphone - said it had sold over 11 million Lenovo smartphones in India till date. At the event, the company also unveiled a new 3GB of RAM variant of the Lenovo Vibe K5 Plus, which was launched in March this year with 2GB of RAM at Rs. 8,499. The company is maintaining the same price point for the higher memory variant, and all other specifications remain the same - it comes with the new Pure UI however.
The company at the event also launched a new TheaterMax Controller at Rs. 999. Lenovo has detailed a few launch offers alongside, which last till 11:59pm IST on Thursday. These include a VR Bundle (TheaterMax Controller and Ant VR headset) costing Rs. 999, a Gaming Bundle (Amkette Gamepad Pro 2 + Ant VR headset) at Rs. 1,999, apart from various exchange offers. Users will also get a coupon for flat 25 percent off on a Myntra purchase above Rs. 1,399.
